From September 1, pensioners will increase payments: not everyone will receive them

Categories of elderly Russians who are entitled to additional money in the autumn have been named

Let's say right away: indexation of pensions at the federal level from September 1, 2023 is not provided. This means that no mass payments to elderly fellow citizens are expected. Nevertheless, some categories of pensioners will receive increases from the beginning of autumn. Who exactly, in what amount and under what conditions — about this in the material «MK».

Categories of older Russians who are entitled to extra money in autumn named

September 2023 increases are eligible for insurance pension recipients with a change in circumstances. For example, if a person has reached a certain age or has changed their place of residence.

It clearly makes sense to start with the oldest: in September, the pension will increase for those who crossed the 80-year mark in August. They have doubled the size of the fixed payment to the insurance pension. And accordingly, the total amount of the old-age insurance pension increases. The increase will be 7567.33 rubles. — taking into account the indexation that the state has carried out for all recipients of this type of pension since January 1, 2023. If the pensioner's birthday is in September, the pension in the new amount will be accrued to him a month later. There is no need to apply for an increased payment — the Social Fund of Russia (SFR) will do everything automatically.

By the way, it is appropriate to recall that pensioners over 80 years old can receive another 1,200 rubles a month. To do this, it is necessary that one of the non-working relatives or acquaintances formalize the care of them. For example, it could be their grandchildren older than 14.

Pensions will also be recalculated for those Russians who officially stopped working in August 2023. An increased pension may come in the third or fourth month, but the increase occurs a month after the dismissal. Accordingly, those citizens who quit their jobs in May should actually receive pensions with all indexations in September.

Those who were assigned an increased disability group in August can also count on the recalculation. People who received a higher disability group in September will receive a new pension, taking into account the change in their health status, already in October.

The increase is also received by pensioners who have dependents — disabled family members. Moreover, such citizens are paid different amounts: with one dependent, the increase will be 2522 rubles; with two — 5044 rubles; with three — 7,567.33 rubles. per month.

In addition, from September 1, 2023, pensioners living in the Far North will not need to apply for increased pension payments. Now they will increase their pension automatically based on data from state information systems.

Economist Andrei Loboda, director of communications at BitRiver, recalled that the government has been regularly indexing the size of old-age insurance pensions for tens of millions of elderly Russians since the beginning of the year. “Indexation takes place annually from January 1, however, in the context of high inflation last year, the authorities decided to carry out a two-stage increase in social benefits. And now the average amount of old-age insurance pensions (if a person does not work) is 21,864 rubles,” the expert noted. According to him, any increase for a pensioner is significant — especially if he lives alone and does not have support from loved ones. In such cases, the main burden of responsibility for caring for the elderly falls on the shoulders of the state.

“There is no other way to respond positively to the September increase in pensions for these categories of Russians who are on a well-deserved rest. Many pensioners now, unfortunately, have a hard time. Given the changing inflation and fluctuations in the exchange rate, prices in stores inevitably rise. Therefore, the additional payments announced by the state, at least partially, will be able to compensate for the increasing living expenses of pensioners, ”says Andrei Loboda.
