MOSCOW, Sep 2 Nigerian President Bola Tinubu announced the recall all the country's ambassadors around the world, except for Nigeria's Permanent Representatives to the UN in New York and Geneva, based on an analysis of the work of Nigerian diplomatic institutions in other countries.
“President Bola Tinubu has ordered the recall of all official … ambassadors from their positions around the world. The order is made as a result of an analysis of the state of affairs in Nigerian consulates and embassies around the world,” Tinubu's office said in a statement on the social network X (former Twitter).
According to the office, the president's decision comes into force on September 2. According to the statement, the permanent representatives of Nigeria to the UN in New York and Geneva will not be recalled due to the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, which will be held from September 19.
“The President is determined to ensure … the efficiency and quality of service delivery (by Nigerian Consulates and Embassies – ed.) … to citizens, residents and potential guests,” Tinubu's office said in a statement.
