St. PETERSBURG, Sep 6, Dmitry Yedigarev. Quadruple Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov said that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) should severely punish the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD).
AFP previously reported that WADA had sent a letter to the French agency listing three recent doping cases. According to the anti-doping organization, the AFLD made decisions “clearly inconsistent with the code and the law of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
Also, WADA threatens to open proceedings, as a result of which the French may be banned from competing in international competitions and hosting similar events, such as the Olympic Games .
“”WADA is doing everything right. Not only should we be treated harshly in accordance with the rules, but everyone. WADA should severely punish the French. As for a possible ban on the Olympics, this is the prerogative of the IOC. The greatest sporting event has already been turned in the trash, because now there are only trials and doping. The whole world is waiting for the Olympics, but they cannot figure out who is right and who is wrong. The IOC must intervene and put everyone in their places, “Tikhonov said.
The Summer Olympic Games will be held in France from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
