MOSCOW, September 7 Vladimir Zelensky threatened the European Union with a court in case extension of restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, this is stated in his address to the summit of the countries participating in the Three Seas Initiative.
“Ukraine is categorically against any further restrictions on the export of our grain!” – Zelensky said, noting that Kiev is “calmly looking” at how Ukrainian grain is becoming a “source of good income” for a number of European countries.
Also, Zelensky “separately” addressed the European Commission, stating that ” foundation of Europe” – including free competition and “keeping promises”. According to him, Kiev does not interfere with competition, but will not “calmly accept the violation of the promises made to us,” including the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
“If it becomes necessary to fight for Ukraine and the foundations of our common Europe in arbitrations, we will fight in arbitrations, although we don’t want it. If we need to fight on the platforms of international organizations, we will fight there too,” he threatened.
In early September, Bloomberg reported with reference to the deputy head of the office Zelensky Igor Zhovkva that Kiev will challenge in the arbitration commission any European Commission ban on grain imports from Ukraine to the EU countries.
Earlier, Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telyus said that Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania will appeal to The European Commission with a demand to extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine, which expires on September 15, until the end of the year. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the Ukrainian authorities categorically disagree with such plans, Kyiv called on the EU leadership to find a “balanced solution”.
