The Electoral Commission of the Belgorod Region has decided to postpone the municipal elections in the town of Shebekino and the village of Zhuravlevka, bordering Ukraine. The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, announced this at a meeting of the Information Center of the Commission, her words are quoted by the 360 TV channel.
“This year, in connection with the introduction of high alert the election commission of the Belgorod region decided to postpone voting in the elections to the council of deputies of the Shebekinsky city district and in the elections of deputies of the zemstvo assembly of the Zhuravlevsky rural settlement in the municipal district of the Belgorod region,» Pamfilova said.
Elections at various levels this year will be held on September 10 in more than 40 regions of Russia, the annexed Crimea and the occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
The city of Shebekino and the village of Zhuravlevka in the Belgorod Region are regularly shelled. In June, fighters of the “Russian Volunteer Corps” fighting on the side of Ukraine came to Shebekino.
In April, Vladimir Putin introduced a «yellow» level of danger in the regions bordering Ukraine: the Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk and Rostov regions, as well as in the annexed Crimea.
