According to the department, the incident happened on Tuesday night – then the Strogino police received a message about “the fire of several vehicles.” Investigators found on CCTV that arson was the cause of the accident. A criminal case has been initiated on intentional destruction or damage to property and hooliganism (Articles 167 and 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
“Police officers located the two suspects and detained them. Currently, all the circumstances of the incident are being established,” said Irina Volk, a spokeswoman for the Russian Interior Ministry, without specifying who exactly owned the car.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation also publishes a video with the detainees' testimonies. On it, one of the defendants admits that a mysterious stranger convinced him to set fire to the car. “An unfamiliar contact called me on Telegram. I set a condition, said I wouldn’t burn the car, he would find me, he would deal with me there himself,” the man said. He noted that, according to the voice from the receiver, another man was supposed to join him. He did not receive any money for his “work”.
The second person involved in the published video did not disclose similar details.
