The document was signed at the WEF by the Director for Business Development of Rosatom; Ekaterina Lyakhova, General Director of Gazpromneft Marine Bunker Anton Sobolev and General Director of Gazpromneft Shipping Dmitry Zaikin.
«Decarbonization of shipping on the strategic transport route of the Northern Sea Route – one of the key challenges for participants throughout the industry. Today, we refuel every second ship in the Arctic with environmentally friendly fuel,” — Sobolev said.
According to the signed memorandum, the parties will study the conditions for bunkering the EACT fleet with marine fuel with a low carbon footprint, including liquefied natural gas.
«Thanks to the development of the transit route through the Northern Sea way, global trade participants will receive an additional route for cargo delivery, which will help reduce transportation times and the burden on the environment,” — Lyakhova reported.
According to her, it is necessary that transit through the Northern Sea Route be safe and predictable.
