IRKUTSK, September 6The XVIII International Music Festival “Stars on Baikal” has opened in Irkutsk, more than 450 musicians will take part in it, said the regional governor Igor Kobzev.

"The XVIII International Music Festival “Stars on Baikal” has opened. It will be attended by stars of classical music, young talented performers, laureates and prize-winners of international competitions. “There are more than 450 musicians in total,” Kobzev wrote in his telegram channel.
He noted that the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Tatarstan, conducted by People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Sladkovsky, together with the artistic director, performed at the opening of the festival festival, pianist, People's Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev and violinist, People's Artist of Russia Vadim Repin.
Five orchestras will also take part in the festival concerts. Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dmitry Yurovsky, State Symphony Orchestra «New Russia» conducted by Yuri Bashmet, Stradivarius Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theater conducted by Lorenz Nasturik-Gerschovichi and the Governor's Symphony Orchestra of the Irkutsk Regional Philharmonic conducted by Ilmar Lapins.
