VLADIVOSTOK, September 11, Sergey Fuks. Seven-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Romashina said during the “Far Sports” session of the Eastern Economic Forum that the World Friendship Games will be an important step towards a bright future for Russian sports.
Romashina was presented on Monday as the first ambassador of the World Friendship Games at the VIII Eastern Economic Forum. The competition will take place from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
““I communicate with many athletes, and it seems that morale is falling. But everyone is holding up well, training and believing in the best. And the Friendship Games are the beginning of our bright future,” Romashina said.
The 2024 World Friendship Games program currently includes 25 sports. The Olympic sports will include basketball, boxing, athletics, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics and others. Among the non-Olympic sports, competitions will be held in beach soccer, sports programming, acrobatic rock and roll and other disciplines. Moscow will host the bulk of the competition, which will mainly take place at the Luzhniki Stadium. Competitions in athletics, aquatics and judo will be organized in Yekaterinburg.
