According to Prokopieva, the powers of the Assembly of Deputies of the new convocation begin from the moment of the first session, which must be scheduled no later than 30 days from voting day. At the session, the chairman of the regional Assembly and his deputies will be elected, and after that the list of committees will be approved and their chairmen will be elected. Deputies will also have to elect their representative to the Federation Council.
“Now work on the budget is in full swing, and the deputy corps should be involved in this process, since it is legislators who set priorities when forming the budget, taking into account the interests of residents of the Arkhangelsk region,” Prokopyeva noted. She added that the new composition will continue the initiatives of its predecessors, for example, work on the most important bill on war children and enshrining social support measures for veterans at the legislative level.
The preliminary results of the elections to the Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly of Deputies were announced at a press conference on Monday by the chairman of the election commission of the Arkhangelsk region, Andrei Kontievsky. In the region, according to the results of three days of voting, the United Russia party is leading by an impressive margin with 50.18% of the votes. In second place is the Liberal Democratic Party. 14.88% of voters voted for her. Communist Party of the Russian Federation with 10.92%. ended up in third place. “A Just Russia – For Truth” received 8.99% of the votes. According to preliminary data, the New People party overcame the minimum five percent threshold for entering the regional Assembly, to which 5.21% of voters entrusted their votes. “Communists of Russia” scored 3.47%, REP “Greens” – 2.10%, Rodina party – 1.74%.
According to Kontievsky, the Arkhangelsk region, along with the Smolensk region and Khakassia, was one of the three regions where the largest number of parties was represented – eight. The region was also among the leaders in terms of the level of competition in elections to the legislative assembly.
In total, 47 deputies are represented in the Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly, 24 were elected in single-mandate constituencies, 23 in a single electoral district or according to party lists. According to preliminary data, candidates from the United Russia party won in 21 of 24 single-mandate constituencies, and three more seats were won by representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Liberal Democratic Party and A Just Russia. The final results with the publication of information on the number of mandates received by parties in a single electoral district are planned to be announced in the near future.
In total, more than 982 thousand people were included in the voter lists, including the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The turnout in the elections to the regional Assembly was 28.08%, in 2018 it was at 29%. This year, remote electronic voting was used for the first time, in which 44,692 people took part – this is 90% of the registered number of voters. According to Kontievsky, this format has proven itself well, is convenient for residents of hard-to-reach areas and will be used in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation.
