MAGADAN, September 13Governor of the Magadan Region Sergei Nosov and General Director of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) Denis Butsaev, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, discussed plans to build a waste processing plant near Magadan, in which REO is ready to invest about 6.8 billion rubles, the regional government reports.
A direct agreement on financing a concession agreement for the construction of a waste processing plant was concluded between the Russian Ecological Operator PPK, the Magadan Region and Magadan Environmental Concession LLC in 2022 during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The facility will be located in the Olsky district of the Magadan region on the 2nd kilometer of the Kolchakovsky Klyuch — Klepka highway, 27 kilometers from Magadan. The plant will have to process more than 80% of all waste in the Magadan region, as well as produce alternative fuel for boiler houses based on waste.
“In the Magadan region, a project is being implemented on the basis of a concession agreement. The total investment volume will be 6.8 billion rubles. REO is ready to invest up to 95% of the necessary investments in it using funds from the issue of bonds,” the government of the Magadan region quotes Butsaev.
