TBILISI, September 13 Georgian Ministry of Defense denied information disseminated by the Georgian opposition television channel that the country's authorities allegedly refuse to locate a US military base on its territory.
The day before, the Mtavari Arkhi television company reported that at the end of 2021, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, during a visit to Georgia, offered the Georgian side to open an American military base, but was refused.
“The Ministry of Defense responds to information disseminated in the media that relates to the topic of military-political relations between the United States and Georgia, and notes that this information is false,” says a statement released by the press service of the Georgian military department.
It also notes that the information in question is being disseminated by “politically engaged individuals, which is being used by certain media outlets to launch a disinformation campaign.”
