The Moscow District Court of Cheboksary fined Semyon Kochkin, editor of the telegram channel “Angry Chuvashia” and ex-head of Navalny’s headquarters in Cheboksary, 30 thousand rubles due to the absence of a “foreign agent” sign in his publications (Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code). He himself told Mediazona about this.
The protocol was reviewed on August 3. The reason for it was seven posts in the telegram channel “Kochkin | Chuvashia is against the war,” published between February 27 and May 30. According to the activist, he learned about the fine by chance, after the court made its decision.
The Ministry of Justice declared Semyon Kochkin a “foreign agent” at the end of October 2022.
In March, Astra reported that a criminal case had been opened against the activist for “discrediting” the army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). Presumably, the reason for it was a publication in the “Angry Chuvashia” telegram channel, which spoke about a native of the republic and the head of the main computer center of the Ministry of Defense, Robert Baranov. He, according to an investigation by The Insider, was responsible for missile launches against Kyiv. In early September, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put Kochkin on the federal wanted list. Now the activist lives abroad.
