MOSCOW, September 15—. The American economy has been depleted due to Washington’s desire to bleed Russia dry with the conflict in Ukraine, ex-adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor, wrote on Twitter.
“”The original goal of this proxy war was to bleed Russia. An absurd decision, the opposite happened “America's resources are being depleted. <…> (Russian President Vladimir – Ed.) Putin knows about this,” the officer said.
He recalled that in order to service the colossal foreign debt of the United States, it is now necessary to spend an amount of approximately equal to the country's military budget – about a trillion dollars.
Previously, US President Joe Biden asked Congress to allocate an additional $24 billion in funding for Ukraine's needs in 2024. At the same time, a number of congressmen are strongly opposed to Washington continuing to send any military aid to Kyiv.
Russia sent a note to the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance because of arms supplies to Ukraine. As Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted, any cargo that contains military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will become a legitimate target of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The Foreign Ministry also emphasized that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons of destruction to Kyiv. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, in turn, recalled that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
