UN, September 18, Alan Bulkaty. Experts of the Security Council Sanctions Committee The UN does not confirm statements about the alleged transfer of weapons by Pyongyang to Russia, Russian permanent representative to the organization Vasily Nebenzya said in an interview.
Answering the question of what is Moscow’s reaction to US accusations against the DPRK of supplying weapons to Russia, as well as to the threat of imposing sanctions , Nebenzya said: “There is a lot of speculation on this topic, including at the UN. All of them are actively replicated by the Western media.”
Such accusations, he said, “are not confirmed even by the group of sanctions experts of the relevant committee Security Council, which… includes representatives of Western countries, including the United States and Great Britain.»
At the end of August, the US White House expressed concern that «arms negotiations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK» were allegedly actively moving forward. The same concerns about the alleged agreements on the supply of North Korean weapons to the Russian Federation were expressed by the American permanent representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield. She called on Pyongyang to “stop its arms negotiations with the Russian Federation.” In particular, the diplomat said that Russia is allegedly negotiating potential deals for the supply of significant volumes and several types of ammunition from the DPRK for use against Ukraine.
DPRK leader Kim Jong-un previously completed his visit to Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with him at the Vostochny Cosmodrome. As the Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters, Russia and the DPRK did not sign agreements on military-technical cooperation or on other topics.
