TOKMAK, September 17 Russian air defense system repelled a missile strike by Ukrainian troops on the city of Tokmak in the Zaporozhye region, the regional administration reported.

Zaporozhye region became a subject of the Russian Federation following the results of a referendum held in September 2022. Kyiv does not recognize its results and continues to shell the territory. In particular, the day before the Ukrainian Armed Forces also launched a missile strike on the outskirts of Tokmak, hitting the Orekhovskaya road fork. According to the local administration, there were no casualties.
Today Russia controls more than 70 percent of the Zaporozhye region. Ukrainian troops hold the former regional center of the region — the city of Zaporozhye.
