MOSCOW, September 18 Apple has released a new version of its operating systems, iOS 17, according to a press release on the company’s website.
“iOS 17 is available today as a free software update,” the release said.
To update the operating system to the latest version, you need to go to the “Settings” menu, then select “General”, and then click “Software Update”, where the possible update will be visible. Users from Russia can also download the new OS.
The new version of the operating system adds a major feature to the phone application: now the user can independently create a single photo avatar for his contact, and it will be displayed on the screen when calling other users. In order for the function to work, both interlocutors must have an iPhone, as well as each other’s numbers added to their contacts. Your avatar photo can be edited with filters, text, and other visual accessories. Previously, only the owners of the contact “book” could set images for contacts.
FaceTime functionality has also been updated. Users can leave a voice or video message if they can't reach another person on the app. And during a call with another person, you can now send reactions across the screen using simple gestures. The app now also supports connection with Apple TV.
Added a separate StandBy interface, which can be activated when the phone is lying on its side. The function offers the display of the minimum necessary information at a time when a person is not at the phone, but must see the screen, for example, to count down a timer. The landscape orientation of the interface allows you to use it when the phone is charging.
The company also claims a qualitative improvement in the auto-correction function. It now uses a state-of-the-art machine learning model to “predict” words. The visual display of auto-correction has also been improved to be more user-friendly.
