MOSCOW, September 18 Capital archaeologists have restored 59 silver and 38 copper coins from the era of Nicholas II, according to the website of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and the city government.
«Capital archaeologists restored 97 coins of the late 19th — early 20th centuries. Of these, 59 were silver, and the rest were copper money. The treasure was discovered during archaeological observations on Dolgorukovskaya Street. After being removed from the ground, the coins were cleaned and photographed. Then a long restoration process has begun,” the statement says.
It is noted that coppers and silver rubles lay in the ground for a long time and were exposed to aggressive environmental influences, because of this they were heavily oxidized. It is emphasized that with the help of chemical compounds, specialists cleared the surface of the coins and coated them with substances that protect the metal. Currently, the treasure has been completely restored and will soon be transferred to the Moscow Museum.
