SOCHI, September 17The organizers of the Sochi Jazz Festival agreed with the mayor of Sochi Alexei Kopaygorodsky to hold the festival in 2024 for a week, People's Artist of Russia and artistic director of the festival Igor Butman said on Sunday.
He noted that previously the festival took place for no more than four days. The proposal to hold a musical event during the week came from the Sochi authorities. Thus, according to the deputy head of the resort, Elena Kanyuk, more people will be involved in the cultural life of the city.
In turn, at a press conference in Sochi, which took place on September 11, Butman said that he was not against make it a tradition to hold the festival for a week.
«»This all translates into scale. We, of course, hope that the more days of the festival, the better. The main thing is that we achieve the goals that we achieved this year — the happy faces of our spectators, vacationers, residents of Sochi, guests of our country, so that they leave here happy. If this can be done within ten days, then we will do it within ten days. While we agreed with Alexey Sergeevich (Kopaigorodsky) to do it for a week, there is already support,» Butman said.
At the same time, he noted that increasing the number of days of the festival would entail the need to refine the program: invite new artists, think about the theme of the concerts to make it interesting.
The jazz festival ends in Sochi. On Sunday, Russian and foreign jazz performers will perform at a gala concert on the stage of the Festivalny concert hall.
The Sochi Jazz Festival has been held in Sochi since 2010. Jazz performers from all over the world come to the music event. During the festival, more than 80 thousand spectators attended the concerts.
