Burial master at the Porokhovsky cemetery of St. Petersburg, Igor Nazarov told MK that 24-hour security was posted at the grave of the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, after a rare violin was stolen from there.
According to a graveyard worker, on the second or third day after the funeral someone placed a sledgehammer and a real violin at the grave. The next day the violin disappeared.
“It’s probably worth a decent amount, but it’s not a popular instrument,” Nazarov noted. He added that eyewitnesses saw a cyclist quickly driving away from the grave, but no one was detained. However, after this, a video camera and a booth were installed near Prigozhin’s grave, in which one of the guards is stationed around the clock. At the same time, the sledgehammer was transferred from the grave to the guard booth.
