MOSCOW, September 21. The removal of the rubble and all search and rescue work after a gas explosion in a high-rise building in Balashikha near Moscow has been completed, said the head of the city district, Sergei Yurov.
A gas explosion occurred in a residential high-rise building on Wednesday morning, destroying several floors along with the ceilings. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that three people died. After the second collapse, six rescuers were trapped under the rubble, two of them died. Later, the head of the department, Alexander Kurenkov, said that rescuers found the bodies of a woman and a child under the rubble of the house.
«At the moment, the removal of the rubble and all search and rescue work have been completed. As a result of the accident, 27 people were injured. Unfortunately , seven died. I offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends. The government of the Moscow region and the administration of Balashikha will provide the families with all the necessary help and support,» Yurov said in his Telegram channel.
According to him, today specialists will begin an examination, the results of which will determine the safety of the load-bearing structures and the possibility of further operation of the house.
“Today, residents, accompanied by the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, will be able to take the necessary things from the surviving apartments,” added head Yurov .
