WADA announced RUSADA's non-compliance with the anti-doping code

MOSCOW, September 22. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) continues to fail to comply with the World Anti-Doping Code, according to the website of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The decision was made on Friday by the WADA Executive Committee, whose meeting was held in Shanghai.
«»Executive The committee followed the recommendation of the independent compliance committee to approve new consequences and conditions for the reinstatement of RUSADA, which is no longer compliant with the code due to inconsistencies in government legislation identified during a virtual audit in September 2022 and not corrected to date. RUSADA has 21 days from receiving official notification of the new consequences and conditions of reinstatement in order to challenge WADA's decision,» the statement said.
«From the end of the two-year period, WADA will evaluate and monitor RUSADA to ensure that it has met all conditions for reinstatement contained in the CAS decision. Until these are met, the agency cannot be considered for reinstatement. In addition, RUSADA will not be entitled to reinstatement as determined by CAS until the discrepancy associated with its national legislation is resolved,» the statement said.

In December 2019, after a series of doping scandals surrounding Russian sports, the WADA Executive Committee recognized RUSADA as not complying with the anti-doping code and imposed four-year sanctions on Russian sports. On December 17, 2020, CAS softened WADA sanctions and reduced their duration to two years. Russian athletes did not have the right to compete under the national flag at major international competitions, including the Olympic Games and World Championships.
The sanctions ended in December 2022. The head of WADA, Witold Banka, said that RUSADA will not be automatically restored to compliance with the WADA code after December 17, since RUSADA does not comply with the organization's code, including due to the fact that the World Anti-Doping Code is not fully integrated into Russian laws. On September 22, member of the RUSADA supervisory board Oleg Barabanov, citing Dmitry Svishchev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, said that the second version of the bill had previously been transferred to the committee.
