ULAN BATOR, September 23 Delegation of deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in headed by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin arrived on an official visit to Mongolia, where a meeting of the commission on cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the State Great Khural of Mongolia will take place.
A State Duma delegation led by Volodin is visiting Mongolia on September 23-25, the State Duma press service reported. On September 25, the first meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the State Great Khural of Mongolia will be held in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar.
“Deputies will discuss issues of legislative support for economic, financial, interbank interaction between Russia and Mongolia, as well as cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, agriculture and tourism,” the press service of the State Duma reported.
As part of the visit, meetings are planned with the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavin Zandanshatar and the country's leadership.
According to the press service, the delegation includes: Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Alexey Gordeev, Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Babakov, Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Trade Vladimir Gutenev, Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education Sergei Kabyshev, Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues Vladimir Kashin, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism and Development of Tourist Infrastructure Sangadzhi Tarbaev, as well as representatives of the ministries of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, chaired by Deputy Speaker Alexei Gordeev, met with the Secretary of the National Security Council of Mongolia Zhadambyn Enkhbayar and the Ambassador of Mongolia to the Russian Federation Ulziysaikhany Enkhtuvshin in preparation for the official visit.
During the meeting, the Secretary of the National Security Council of Mongolia noted that the Mongolian side attaches great importance to the upcoming visit of State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and expects to discuss issues of mutually beneficial cooperation, including the development of trade and economic relations, at a high level.
In June, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavin Zandanshatar signed a provision on the creation of an inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation. During the meeting, the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia proposed holding the first meeting of the commission this fall in Ulaanbaatar, and also invited the Chairman of the State Duma to visit Mongolia.
Volodin noted that economic, energy, and humanitarian cooperation is strengthening between Russia and Mongolia. Over the past year, trade turnover between the two countries increased by almost 42% and amounted to $2.6 billion.
In December 2021, during an official visit to Moscow, President of Mongolia Ukhnagiin Khurelsukh visited the State Duma and met with Volodin.
