SAMARA, September 25 Dmitry Azarov took the oath and officially took office as governor of the Samara region on Monday, September 25, it was reported during a live broadcast of the inauguration ceremony on the regional government page on the VKontakte social network.
The event took place at 13.00 (12.00 Moscow time) in the government building of the Samara region. The ceremony was attended by Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, Governor of the Orenburg Region Denis Pasler, Governor of the Saratov Region Roman Busargin, deputies, social activists, heads of ministries and departments, large enterprises in the region, heads of cities and municipal districts of the region.
«I swear, when exercising the powers of the governor of the Samara region, to respect and protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen and to comply with the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, the charter of the Samara region and the laws of the Samara region,» Azarov said during the oath.
At the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of the Samara Provincial Duma Gennady Kotelnikov presented the governor's badge to the elected head of the region.

As part of the inauguration ceremony, Azarov was congratulated on his election as head of the region and wished the best by the governors of the Orenburg and Saratov regions, Hero of Socialist Labor, Honorary Citizen of the Samara Region Maxim Ovodenko, and head of the Public Council of the Samara Region Viktor Soifer. The governor of the Samara region was also congratulated by the commander of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District, Lieutenant General Andrei Kolotovkin.
Dmitry Azarov won the election of the head of the region with 83.83% of the votes. The elections for the governor of the Samara region took place over three days, from September 8 to 10, 2023. In September 2017, Azarov was appointed acting governor of the Samara region by decree of the President of the Russian Federation. In 2018 he was elected governor of the region.
