VORONEZH, September 26 Rescuers declared a high fire danger in the Voronezh region due to warm, dry weather, the main department of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry for the region reported on Tuesday.
«Due to weather conditions, class V fire danger (extreme degree of fire danger) has been established on the territory of 27 municipalities; class IV fire danger (high degree of fire danger) remains on the territory of 7 municipalities,» the message says.
In the Voronezh region there are 31 municipal districts and three urban districts.
As a representative of the Voronezh hydrometeorological center explained, the region is experiencing warm, dry weather. It's currently 25 degrees in the region.
The Voronezh region was heavily damaged by wild fires in the summer of 2010. The fire destroyed about 20 thousand hectares of forest in the region. 309 residential buildings and more than 800 outbuildings in 21 settlements burned down. 720 people (359 families) were left without housing, six people died. Damage from the fires amounted to about 1.5 billion rubles.
