CHISINAU, September 26 The Ministry of Defense of Moldova does not confirm that through A rocket flew over the republic, said the head of the government's press service, Daniel Voda, in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, the co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) from Transnistria, Oleg Belyakov, said that fragments of an S-300 air defense missile had been discovered. According to him, they fell at night in the village of Kitskani, which is located 10 kilometers from Tiraspol. Peacekeeping military observers went to the scene of the incident. Belyakov added that the missile's warhead was removed from the site. Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that we are talking about Transnistria, and the official institutions of Chisinau cannot conduct an investigation in territory not under their control.
«There are a lot of unknowns in this issue. The Ministry of Defense does not confirm the fact of unidentified objects passing through the national airspace. The representative of Chisinau in the joint control commission will forward questions to specialists so that we can find out the details,» Voda wrote.
The Joint Control Commission was created in accordance with the Moldovan-Russian agreement on the principles of the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict of July 21, 1992. It includes representatives of Moldova, Transnistria and Russia. The JCC monitors the situation in the security zone on the Dniester and also coordinates the activities of joint peacekeeping forces in the region. This year marks 31 years since the start of the peacekeeping operation in Transnistria.
Transnistria, 60% of whose residents are Russians and Ukrainians, sought secession from Moldova even before the collapse of the USSR, fearing that on the wave of nationalism Moldova would join Romania. In 1992, after a failed attempt by the Moldavian authorities to solve the problem by force, Transnistria became virtually a territory beyond the control of Chisinau.
