The RFU assessed Karasev's chances of getting an appointment to a match under the auspices of UEFA

MOSCOW, September 28, Sergey Fuks. General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov told reporters that, in his opinion, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is interested in appointing Russian referees for matches.
On September 26, a team of referees led by Vera Opeikina officiated at the Women's Nations League match between the national teams of Armenia and Kazakhstan (1:2). This meeting was the first in a year and a half under the auspices of UEFA to which Russian judges were appointed. At the beginning of September, Russian arbitrators Sergey Karasev and Vera Opeikina took part in a gathering of judges of the European organization in Nyon, Switzerland.
““Whether Karasev will be called up for UEFA matches will be decided by the (UEFA) administration. I think my colleagues are interested in this,” Mitrofanov said.
«It is clear that all circumstances are taken into account, including in the current conditions the comfort of logistics, the removal of additional stress from the team of referees. Therefore, matches are tailored specifically for this. We hope that our officials will also be more actively involved in the near future match service,» he added.
