On Wednesday it became known about the verdict of the organizers of the competition in Sweden not to allow the Russian team to the final part of the 2024 European Championship among girls under 17 years old. England, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia and Lithuania previously announced that their national teams refuse to play with the Russians.
““Sick people,” said Tikhonov, commenting on the decision of the leadership of the Swedish association. “This is the decision of individual people who are under pressure from the United States of America. And others in the country are burning Korans, these are natural freaks. I can’t say anything about them one kind word.»
Previously, the UEFA executive committee allowed Russian teams of players no older than 17 years old to participate in international competitions. It is expected that women's and men's teams will play their matches without the flag, anthem and not on the territory of the Russian Federation. The suspension of adult Russian teams will remain in effect until the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
