A student at a forestry technical school in Komsomolsk-on-Amur named Nikita became involved in a case of preparing a terrorist attack at an educational institution. This was reported by the Baza telegram channel and the Kommersant publication.
According to Kommersant, the suspect is a minor. Baza writes that the young man is 18 years old and is included in the Rosfinmonitoring register of extremists and terrorists. On the department's website you can find 18-year-old Nikita Kravtsov from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, who was added to the list in August.
Kommersant's source in law enforcement agencies told the publication that a case was opened against the young man for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code), undergoing training to carry out terrorist activities (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code) and illegal production explosives (part 1 of article 223.1 of the Criminal Code). He has been in pre-trial detention since December last year.
According to investigators, the suspect had been preparing for the alleged terrorist attack for more than a year, “inspired by the ideas of the Columbine terrorist movement banned in the Russian Federation.” The security forces became interested in the young man when he was hospitalized with a hand injury resulting from an explosion of a homemade device.
Baza writes that in winter Nikita tested it on one of the city streets, adding nails to one of the bombs. So he wanted to evaluate how the damaging elements scatter. According to Kommersant, investigators first opened a case against him for preparing a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code; Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code).
Kommersant’s interlocutor said that since the fall of 2021, the student “has been promoting the Columbine ideology.” on social networks. The publication writes that he maintained a page on VKontakte under the name “Maxim Martsinkevich.” In addition, the student, according to Kommersant, discussed the idea of attacking the technical school with his classmate.
The teachers characterize the young man as “quiet, calm and pleasant to talk to.” One of the teachers at school No. 6 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where the suspect previously studied, told Kommersant that the idea of carrying out a terrorist attack could have come to him out of resentment towards the teachers.
