American screenwriters end their strike

WASHINGTON, September 27 The Writers Guild of America announced the end of a five-month strike, writes the Hollywood Reporter.
“These are the results of the vote of the guild leadership, which decided to allow 11.5 thousand of its members to work,” the publication reports.
Screenwriters can now present, write, refine their work and hold working meetings, the release said.

The strike lasted almost 150 days and became the second longest for the guild, the publication recalls.

As the union reported, actors and employees of media companies Amazon, Disney, Fox, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, Universal, Warner Bros. should take part in strikes and pickets across the country. and others. Such actresses as Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep have expressed their support.
