Investigators demanded the arrest in absentia of two Moscow activists who left the country

In Moscow, investigators demanded the arrest in absentia of two activists who left Russia — Nina Nesterova and Anastasia Ageeva. Information about this was published on the website of the capital's courts, and Mediazona drew attention to it.

Materials about the selection of a preventive measure for Nesterova, who is charged with repeated “discrediting” of the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), were received by Nagatinsky district court, and in the case of Ageeva, accused of “fakes” about the army (part 1 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), to the Lyublinsky district court. The court granted Ageeva's request for arrest in absentia.

The case against Nesterova was opened in February, and the criminal prosecution became known in April. The activist herself is abroad; on April 18 she was put on the wanted list. What exactly became the reason for the case is not yet known.

OVD-Info reported on September 13 that Ageeva, who emigrated to the United States, was put on the wanted list. The case against her was opened back in May because of two posts on VKontakte, posted on July 24 and 8, 2022, and a publication dated September 21 of the same year on Instagram.

Previously, the activist was detained twice due to participation in actions against the war in Ukraine; also in April 2022, she was arrested for 15 days in the case of petty hooliganism (Part 2 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code) under the pretext that she was swearing at the Kremlin.

In the same month, the Dorogomilovsky District Court of the capital fined Nesterova 50 thousand rubles in an administrative case for “discrediting” the army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). The reason for the fine was an anti-war single picket near the Bagrationovskaya metro station.

Not long before this, they also tried to prosecute a Muscovite under the article on disobedience to the police (19.3 of the Administrative Code). In the protocol, the security forces indicated that the activist resisted arrest.

The reason for Nesterova’s arrest was yellow-blue ribbons and an elephant badge in rainbow colors attached to the activist’s backpack, as well as a yellow scarf and a blue headdress — the police decided that she had “discredited” the army and was engaged in “ LGBT propaganda.» Later, the court dismissed the case under Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses due to the lack of corpus delicti.
