MOSCOW, September 30 A criminal case has been opened against the driver who hit five people, including two little girls on Friday evening in the center of Moscow, for violating traffic rules, reported law enforcement source.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that on Friday on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, a Mercedes driver drove onto the sidewalk and hit pedestrians. According to preliminary data, five people received injuries of varying severity. The prosecutor's office clarified that two of the victims were girls born in 2011 and 2013. The Moscow Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee reported that the driver refused a medical examination.
«»A criminal case has been opened against the driver who caused the accident under Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles ),” said the agency’s interlocutor.
The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to 7 years.
