YAKUTSK, September 28 The situation with the ban on the distribution of the film “Aita” needs to be considered by an expert council at the federal level, says Viktor Gubarev, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Culture and Media of the State Assembly of Yakutia.
«»Censorship is prohibited in our country. If there is a reason, it is necessary to clearly explain what is wrong and on what points the director is wrong. I see no reason for a ban on the distribution of the film «Aita». I call for the convening of an expert council at the federal level of government «, and that representatives from Yakutia should also be present there. I believe that such a letter should be sent from the Ministry of Culture and Spiritual Development of the republic,» he said.
The parliamentarian added that the situation with the Yakut film “Aita” will be discussed by members of the committee.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation revoked the distribution certificate of the film “Aita” directed by Stepan Burnashev. Prior to this, at the request of Roskomnadzor, the film was removed from Russian video services. The agency revealed that the film shows the inequality of heroes of different nationalities.
Minister of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Republic Yuri Kupriyanov stated that, according to the authorities of Yakutia, the film “Aita” does not evoke a feeling of dislike for Russian people, although the film is based on the theme of interethnic conflict.
«Aita» is the 13th film by Stepan Burnashev and the first in the detective genre. Its premiere took place at the first Russian auteur film festival «Winter». The film received two prizes at once — for best director and best actor.
