MOSCOW, October 2 Import substitution of software will take place in the lower house of the Russian Parliament, domestic software in the State Duma will replace foreign ones, said the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein.
As Vedomosti reported, the State Duma apparatus purchased 1,800 licenses of domestic analogues of the Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of office programs for deputies and administrative employees of the parliament.
«The import substitution program in the lower house was initiated personally by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin,» said Khinshtein.
According to him, it also includes purchases of domestic software, including operating systems and office suites. “Russian developers offer mature solutions that are written taking into account all national standards, including security. I am well acquainted with the Astra Linux OS and the MyOffice package and do not see any difficulties in switching to them from Windows and Microsoft Office,” — added the parliamentarian.
