MOSCOW, September 30 Trends in the field of art have changed towards the private problems of individual nations and people in particular, and global the challenges have become less relevant, said Elizaveta Likhacheva, director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
“»The trend has changed. It has changed in the world: no one anymore needs crazy centers of contemporary art, filled with incomprehensible things that respond to global challenges… This is the reality in which we live. Globalization is over,» she said at discussion «Preservation mode: museums and institutions», taking place at the 11th International Fair of Contemporary Art Cosmoscow at the Expocentre.
According to the art critic, in the modern world more attention is paid to private stories related to national and personal affairs. For example, Likhacheva said that during a recent visit to Istanbul she visited a local museum, where the entire exhibition was dedicated to national problems and what directly concerns the residents of Turkey. This is “strikingly different” from last year’s trends, the director of the Pushkin Museum emphasized.
The international fair of contemporary art Cosmoscow takes place at the Expocentre Central Exhibition Complex in Moscow from September 29 to October 1. About 80 galleries present their stands at Cosmoscow.
