MOSCOW, October 4 The Russian Foreign Ministry said , that the delegation of the Taliban movement* lost their passports during a visit to Russia, but they were quickly restored.
Last week the Taliban participated in a “Moscow format” meeting on Afghanistan in Kazan. As Zamir Kabulov, the special representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, director of the second department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told reporters, the Afghan delegation lost a bag with passports.
“But thanks to the operational work of our colleagues, both from the Ministry of Defense and not from the Ministry of Defense, the passports were restored. That’s all I know (about the situation — ed.),” Kabulov told reporters, answering a corresponding question.
The fifth meeting of the “Moscow format” of consultations on Afghanistan, which includes Afghan representatives and neighboring countries, was held in Kazan on Friday. Afghanistan was represented by a Taliban delegation led by acting Foreign Minister in the interim Taliban government Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The first meeting of the “Moscow format” to resolve the Afghan conflict took place on April 14, 2017 with the participation of deputy foreign ministers and special representatives of 11 countries (Russia, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan , Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan). The main goal of the “Moscow format” was stated to be to promote the process of national reconciliation in Afghanistan and the early establishment of peace in this country.
