MOSCOW, Oct. 5 German defense concern Rheinmetall commissioned by the government Germany began supplying a new batch of SurveilSpire reconnaissance systems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports the Ukrainian agency UNN.
«»Rheinmetall began to transfer to Ukraine a new batch of SurveilSpire automated reconnaissance systems. The order for Ukraine was paid for by the German government. Orders are in the double-digit range of millions of euros,» the Ukrainian agency UNN quoted Rheinmetall as saying.
It is noted that the system includes wireless communication channels, in particular, 4G and Starlink, for transmitting video to a mobile command post, the agency reports.
«Rheinmetall is collaborating on the project with the Estonian company DefSecIntel,» the concern noted.
Russia previously sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect. Lavrov stated that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
