MOSCOW, October 2 The jury of the IX All-Russian Prize “For Fidelity to Science” in 2023 received a record number of applications, over 1.2 thousand, from applicants from all over the country, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation reported .
The award received 1,213 applications from 78 regions of Russia. The largest number is in the nomination «Popular Science Project of the Year» — 208, in second place is the nomination «Mentor», established in the Year of the Teacher and Mentor on the initiative of the Russian Academy of Education — 178 applications. In the nomination “Best popular science student project” 116 applications were received, “Science is fashionable” — 109 and “Defense of historical truth” — 108.

“Thanks to the President's Decade of Science and Technology, we see growing interest in the profession of a scientist. Popular science bloggers and programs also play a significant role in this. The shortlist of participants, selected from more than a thousand applications, this year contains a variety of formats and topics of media projects, including international ones. Russian science has been and will always be in demand and open to the world community, which is confirmed by the applications in the new nomination “Science for the World”. “In 2023, a new grant support program began to operate for those who talk about the achievements of scientists. Numerous festivals, exhibitions, excursions and other events on scientific topics are being held. It is noteworthy that this year a record number of applications were received for the Award for Fidelity to Science Popularizers from almost all over the country took part in the competitive selection,” noted Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, in turn.
The laureates and diploma holders of the award will be announced in October. They will receive a cash reward and special prizes from the competition partners: a trip on a nuclear icebreaker, a trip to one of the Russian cosmodromes and an excursion to the engineering center of the Irkut Corporation in Moscow. In addition, the prize winners will be able to go to one of the key events of the Decade of Science and Technology — the III Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi.
The award is held within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organizer of the award is the Ministry of Education and Science, the partners of the event are the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute» and Lomonosov Moscow State University. The award is supported by the Art, Science and Sports charity foundation. The founders of the special prizes were the state corporations Rosatom, Roscosmos, Rostec.
