VIENNA, 5 Oct. Supplies of inhumane weapons to Kiev from NATO countries , such as cluster munitions and shells with depleted uranium, as well as certain types of tanks and long-range missiles, will not lead to fundamental changes on the line of combat contact in favor of the Ukrainian regime, says Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE Maxim Buyakevich.
«We emphasize: supplies from NATO countries of inhumane weapons such as cluster munitions and shells with depleted uranium, as well as individual tanks and some long-range missiles will not lead to fundamental changes on the line of combat contact in favor of the formations of the Kiev regime. The only consequences that they will cause new destruction and unnecessary casualties, including among civilians,” Buyakevich said on Thursday, speaking at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
According to the diplomat, “Russia will respond adequately and proportionately to attempts by NATO countries to “raise the stakes” by using the mentioned weapons in the Ukrainian conflict.”
Russia previously sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect. Lavrov stated that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
