MOSCOW, October 6 The number of people employed at enterprises in Ukraine last year fell to 5.4 million people, which was the lowest figure since 2010 , follows from an analysis of data published on Friday by the Ukrainian statistical service.
The National Bank of Ukraine previously reported that employers are increasing the number of vacancies, while the number of resumes is decreasing. This may indicate both the growth of working Ukrainians and “limited labor supply, in particular due to migration and mobilization.”
According to the statistics agency, last year the number of employees at enterprises in Ukraine decreased by 1 million and 9,288 people and amounted to 5.4 million. This has become the minimum level since 2010 — the service does not provide earlier statistics. At the same time, a similar rate of reduction was observed only once — in 2014. The largest decrease in employment occurred in medium-sized enterprises — 385 thousand people. The number of people employed in small companies decreased by 345.5 thousand employees. The number of employees of large businesses fell by 279 thousand, and micro-enterprises — by 193 thousand people.
By industry, the most serious reduction was observed in the processing industry — 236 thousand people, wholesale and retail trade — 163 thousand people, as well as in the field of transport, postal and courier activities — 97 thousand people . The number of employees in agriculture decreased by 81 thousand, and in construction — by 80 thousand.
The statistical agency does not take into account data on employees of banks and budgetary organizations in statistics. In 2014, data for Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk were no longer taken into account, and in 2022 — for Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
