Kansky teenager Nikita Uvarov, convicted for discussing the bombing of the FSB building in Minecraft, was placed in a disciplinary cell

A teenager from Kansk, Nikita Uvarov, was sent to a disciplinary detention center (DIZO) in the educational colony, where he was sent to five years in the case of teaching terrorist activities. This was reported by a support group for those involved in the case.

Uvarov was placed in a pre-trial detention center for five days on October 5. The teenager's mother, Anna Uvarova, found out that her son had been punished when she tried to make an appointment with him for a short visit. It is unknown what caused him to be sent to the isolation ward.

Baza reported the detention of schoolchildren in November 2020; the youngest of them was 14 years old at the time; Uvarov was already 15. The teenagers posted leaflets in support of the MSU graduate student Azat Miftakhov. After the arrest, correspondence was found in their phones in which they discussed how they wanted to blow up the FSB building in the game Minecraft.

During the investigation, Uvarov spent 11 months in a pre-trial detention center, after which he and one of his friends were released from custody. The third person involved in the case was initially given a more lenient measure of restraint.

According to the investigation, the schoolchildren “with the aim of changing the existing state and political structure in the Russian Federation <…>, as well as revenge for the unjustly and erroneously, in his opinion, convicted like-minded people” wanted to carry out terrorist attacks in buildings of law enforcement agencies in Kansk and underwent training for this.

They were sentenced in February 2022. Uvarov was sentenced to 5 years in prison; two other minor defendants were released from criminal liability under Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code (undertaking training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities) for assisting the investigation. However, for other articles they received three and four years of suspended imprisonment.

The teenagers were also accused of four counts of production and three episodes storage of explosives. At the same time, the Investigative Committee initially accused the teenagers of organizing a terrorist community (Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code), but later dropped the case for lack of evidence of a crime.

Two months ago, Nikita Uvarov turned 18 years old. A court decision is required to transfer to a general regime colony from a juvenile facility. Lawyer Vladimir Vasin has not yet been notified of the appointment of the meeting, the support group clarified.
