The Southern District Military Court registered the case of Bohdan Zaits, a native of the Ukrainian Zhitomir, who is accused of calling for extremism (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code) and justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). Kavkaz.Realii drew attention to the case file.
According to information on the court’s website, the case was registered on October 3, and on October 5 its materials were transferred to judge Denis Stepanov. A preliminary hearing date has not yet been set.
The Astra telegram channel was the first to report the criminal prosecution of the 34-year-old Hare. Back in March, it said that a Ukrainian living in Rostov-on-Don was accused of writing comments with “calls for a violent change of government in the Russian Federation.”
According to Kavkaz.Realii, the reason for the case became comments on VKontakte. However, other details of the accusation are unknown. Astra wrote only about Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code. The Telegram channel claimed that Zayets was released on his own recognizance.
In addition, in March of this year, a native of Zhitomir was fined ten thousand rubles under the article on humiliation of human dignity (Article 20.3.1 of the Administrative Code). The security forces saw in his comments on VKontakte signs of “humiliation (insult) of belonging to a group of people — representatives of state authorities of the Russian Federation.”
