MOSCOW, October 9 The Russian government will additionally allocate almost 1.2 billion rubles to support the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, the prime minister said – Russian Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with deputy prime ministers on Monday.
“This year we will additionally allocate almost 1.2 billion rubles to support the industry, and most of it – about 800 million rubles – is provided for grants to small businesses, developers of products and services based on artificial intelligence,” Mishustin said.

Developers will be able to use the funds to implement their solutions; at least 16 companies should receive assistance this year, the prime minister noted. 250 million rubles will also be allocated to the formation and updating of data sets in demand in commercial circulation from government systems and infrastructure for accessing them.

“Such data sets can become the basis of machine learning for organizations in key sectors of the economy and contribute to their digital transformation,” Mishustin noted.
In addition, funding for a second wave of AI research centers is planned.
“All this creates additional opportunities for launching new promising domestic solutions in such a significant sector, which is especially important in conditions of external pressure and for achieving technological independence,” the prime minister emphasized.
