The Butyrsky District Court of Moscow received materials from the administrative case against the editor-in-chief of Mediazona Sergei Smirnov. Mediazona found the corresponding card in the database of Moscow courts.
The protocol against Smirnov was drawn up under Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (absence of the “foreign agent” label in publications). A hearing date for the case has not yet been set.
Smirnov has already been fined twice under the law on “foreign agents”. In July 2022, he was fined 10 thousand rubles, in July 2023 — 30 thousand rubles.
The Ministry of Justice included Sergei Smirnov in the list of “foreign agents” back in 2021. At the same time, Mediazona itself was included in the register.
