CHISINAU, Oct 12 Moldovan politician and businessman Ilan Shor reported that it was possible to obtain permission from the civil aviation authority (CAA) of Moldova to operate a charter flight with Moldovan citizens from Israel only at night, the flight itself was postponed to the morning.
The Moldovan authorities did not organize a centralized evacuation of their citizens from Israel, but advised them to use various commercial flights to Bucharest or Chisinau. On Thursday, Moldovan politician and businessman Ilan Shor said that he had paid for tickets for citizens of Moldova, but the authorities of the republic did not allow the plane to land in Chisinau. The republic's Foreign Ministry denied that the authorities were preventing the plane from Israel from landing, and the flight was delayed due to the large number of flights at the airport. The Regional State Administration reported that they received a request to operate a charter flight from Israel during the day, but the regulations allow such an application to be considered within 48 hours, so permission will be issued after all checks have been completed.
“All day long, the charter plane I organized with Moldovan families with children was waiting for permission to fly to Chisinau from the Israeli Ben Gurion Airport. And only at night we received this permission. The flight was postponed to the morning,” Shor wrote in his Telegram channel, noting that all passengers were provided with transfer and hotel accommodation.
He claims that the republican authorities did not try to help in this situation. “And only when deputy Marina Tauber contacted the director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova, Vasil Sharamet, and asked to personally get involved in resolving the issue, the matter moved forward,” he added.
According to the press service of the government of the republic, more than 600 Israeli citizens have flown to Moldova since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and more than 300 citizens of Moldova returned home from Israel in the period from October 7 to October 12, 252 people are still expected to return. The Moldovan embassy reported that one citizen of the republic died in the conflict zone.
On the morning of October 7, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented-scale rocket attack from the Gaza Strip as part of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, announced by the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement. In addition, after massive rocket attacks, the organization’s fighters penetrated into the border areas in southern Israel. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Within days of the attack, the Israeli military took control of all settlements near the Gaza border and began conducting air strikes on targets, including civilians, in the strip. Israel also announced a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip: the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel was suspended.

The number of civilian deaths on each side exceeded a thousand, and several thousand Israelis and Palestinians were injured. Several dead and missing Russians, as well as citizens of other countries, were reported. According to various sources, about 150 Israelis may be held captive by Hamas.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the parties to stop hostilities. According to the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the settlement of the Middle East crisis is possible only on the basis of a “two-state” formula approved by the UN Security Council, which provides for the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict, related to the territorial interests of the parties, has been a source of tension and clashes in the region for many decades. A UN decision with the active role of the USSR in 1947 determined the creation of two states — Israel and Palestine, but only the Israeli one was created. Israel, while declaring agreement with the two-state principle, did not completely liberate the Palestinian territories.
