The Prosecutor General's Office, on behalf of the head of the department, Igor Krasnov, began to carry out “supervisory activities” after Wildberries introduced a commission for paying for goods with Visa and Mastercard cards. This was reported by the department's press service.
As the Prosecutor General's Office clarified, the decision of the marketplace to charge customers a fee for returning goods was also the reason for the inspection. Rospotrebnadzor and the Bank of Russia will join the inspection.
“Particular attention will be paid to the validity of the actions of the specified trading platform, respect for consumer rights, and prevention of the use of illegal schemes in order to extract excess commercial income,” the Prosecutor General’s Office added.
In April of this year In 2018, the court declared illegal the conditions of Wildberries, according to which customers are charged a fee for the return of defective goods purchased on the marketplace. A month earlier, marketplace employees in several regions refused to go to work due to the new system of fines.
