A Northern Fleet sailor was sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security colony in a high treason case

The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Navy serviceman Yegor Tyukin to 16 years in a maximum security colony. The press service of the court told Interfax about this.

Tyukin was found guilty of high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code). An Interfax source in the security forces reported that the serviceman was charged with transferring information constituting state secrets to a foreign state. Tyukin partially admitted guilt in the case, the court also stripped him of his military rank, Interfax writes.

The criminal prosecution of the serviceman became known in August, when the case materials were submitted to the court for consideration. The process took place behind closed doors.

As Mediazona drew attention, a man named Yegor Sergeevich Tyukin, who studied at school in Arkhangelsk, entered the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after. M.V. Lomonosov in the specialty “Pharmacy” and “Medical Biochemistry”. In addition, a man with the same name took part in a university physics tournament from the Higher School of Natural Sciences and Technology (IENT) team.

“Caution, news” wrote that two years after graduating from university, in 2021, Tyukin went to serve in the Northern Fleet. TASS, citing a source in law enforcement agencies, also reported that the defendant was a sailor of the Northern Fleet.

Since the case was considered by the 2nd Western District Military Court, then most likely we are talking about a crime committed not in Arkhangelsk or other northern regions, and in central Russia.
