Russia is increasing poultry production, the Ministry of Agriculture said

MOSCOW, Oct. 14Poultry meat production in the Russian Federation is growing, but the priority is to meet the needs of the population, including through retail chains, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told reporters.
Russian restaurants are recording a shortage of chicken meat — in particular, Rostic's and KFC reported a shortage. The presence of the problem was confirmed to the agency by the head of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia (FRiO) Igor Bukharov, expressing hope that this issue will soon be resolved.

«It should be noted that the domestic consumer market is fully supplied with poultry meat. At the same time, according to the National Union of Poultry Farmers, the priority is to meet the needs of the population for socially significant products, including through retail chains,” the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reported.

They also emphasized that in the context of continued growth in demand for poultry meat, Russian enterprises continue to increase production volumes — all capacities are being used for this.

“By the end of 2023, positive dynamics of indicators in the industry are expected,” the ministry’s press service said.
According to Rosstat, in August 277.4 thousand tons of chilled poultry meat were produced in the Russian Federation, 2.1% less than in August last year, but 2.1% more than in July 2023. In January-August 2023, chilled poultry meat production increased by 1.3% compared to January-August 2022, amounting to 2.3 million tons. Data for September have not yet been published.
