The Makhachkala Garrison Military Court sentenced contract soldier Musa Musaev to seven years of probation, according to the verdict published on the court’s website, and the Caucasian Knot publication drew attention to it.
According to court materials, on April 6, Musaev, while in Makhachkala, illegally bought a Retey pistol at a gas station “with changes made to its design.” On April 21, as one of the witnesses said, Musaev wanted to check the pistol and “shot about 30 rounds of ammunition in a forest area,” after which he decided to sell the weapon.
As a result, the contract soldier contacted a person in a telegram who “acted in within the framework of an operational-search activity,” and offered him to buy a pistol for 45 thousand rubles. After that, he was detained.
The serviceman was found guilty of illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and sale of firearms (clause “c” of Part 5 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code).
When sentencing, the court considered Musaev’s admission of guilt, as well as his “direct participation” in the war in Ukraine, where he was wounded, as a mitigating circumstance. At the same time, the court noted his negative performance characteristics. In addition to a suspended prison sentence, the contract worker was given a three-year probationary period.
