The revived Delage launched the D12 supercar into production and is preparing two more new products

The Delage D12 is a two-seat tandem hybrid supercar with a 7.6-liter V12 and will be produced in a limited edition of 30 units.

The legendary French brand Delage came back to life in 2019 through the efforts of French entrepreneur Laurent Tapie. The original Delage, founded in 1905 by Louis Delage, ceased production of cars in 1953, racing on par with Bugatti in the 20s and 30s and noting a number of technical innovations. Laurent Tapie focuses specifically on Delage's motorsport roots: this year the brand returned to Le Mans and participated in the legendary 24-hour marathon in partnership with the IDEC Sport team, their car number 48 became the best in the LMP2 class and took sixteenth place in the overall standings.< /p> Laurent Tapie between the road Delage D12 and the sports prototype of the IDEC Sport team of the LMP2 class

The first road model of Delage after its revival received the D12 index, its prototype was presented at the end of 2019, and now mass production has begun – it takes place manually in the new headquarters Delage apartment, located in Magny-Cours next to the French circuit of the same name, where Delage tests its cars; the main test driver was ex-Formula 1 driver Jacques Villeneuve.

Delage D12 is made according to formula canons, it has a push-rod “all-round” suspension with long horizontal arms and a completely carbon fiber body. Overall length of Delage D12 – 4645 mm, width – 2063 mm, height – 1140 mm, wheelbase – 2800 mm. The two-seater cockpit is covered with a lifting hood, but the Speedster without a roof can be ordered as an option for 190,000 euros. The cockpit is designed extremely functionally, in a racing style: instead of a traditional steering wheel, a multifunctional steering wheel is installed, almost all surfaces are covered with suede, while the equipment includes a full-fledged microclimate system and a high-quality Focal audio system.

Behind the cockpit is a proprietary naturally aspirated 7.6-liter V12 that produces a maximum of 990 hp. at 8200 rpm and 832.5 Nm at 6200 rpm. An electric motor and an 8-speed robotic gearbox are attached to the internal combustion engine. The maximum output of the electric motor in the GT version, which is primarily oriented towards public roads, is 110 hp. and 244 Nm, in the Club version, more suitable for track days, – 20 hp. and 51.5 Nm. The maximum total output of the power plant for the GT version is 1100 hp. and 1076.5 Nm, for the Club version – 1010 hp. and 884 Nm. The driving wheels are rear.

The electric motor in the Delage D12 assists the internal combustion engine during acceleration and is responsible for reversing. The output of the electric motor in the Club version is reduced in order to reduce the curb weight; for this version it is 1300 kg, for the GT version it is 1390 kg. The fuel tank capacity in both versions is 80 liters. Both versions reach the first “hundred” in 2.6 seconds, and the maximum speed is 360 km/h. The developers of the Delage D12 are confident that the Club version will be able to drive the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than 6 minutes 40 seconds; next year an attempt will be made to set a new record in the class of road supercars; now, let us remind you, it belongs to the Mercedes-AMG One – 6 minutes 35.183 seconds .

The standard equipment of the Delage D12 includes carbon-ceramic brakes: the diameter of the front discs is 380 mm (6-piston calipers), rear – 360 mm (4-piston calipers). The standard tire size is 265/35 ZR 20 at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 at the rear.

Each Delage D12 will cost the customer at least 2 million euros plus taxes; a total of 30 copies will be produced.

According to the British magazine Autocar, Delage is already working on the following two models: one of them is more the traditional-looking GT class Bugatti Chiron, and the second new product will be from a completely different market segment – is it really a crossover?
